On October 5th, 2025, the annual Meet the Candidates Forum was hosted at Edgemont Jr/Sr High School. Organized by OCA-WHV, seven candidates spoke to about 70 families, with a great Q&A session led by Dr. Johnson Qian between each speech. The White Plains Public Library hosted a screening of Baseball Behind Barbed Wire in celebration of Asian American Heritage Month. The documentary revealed how baseball provided hope when 125,000 Japanese Americans, two-thirds of which were US Citizens, were unjustly incarcerated and stripped of their rights, homes and dignity during WWII. Through our New Bridges partnership with African American Men of Westchester, board members Meow Yee, Dan Lewis, and Jeanhee Chung attended the annual AAMW Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Youth Awards Luncheon. Ten outstanding high schoolers won scholarship awards that afternoon, including Kelly Deng of Scarsdale High School, who won the Vision Award. At this elegant and festive event, each award winner spoke briefly and awed the packed room with their brilliance initiatives
