LÍKHÂ Gallery

After interviewing Ann Constantino Beck about running Likha Gallery in Hawthorne, I found her story inspiring and meaningful. Ann created Likha Gallery to provide a space for people who may have never felt comfortable expressing themselves. She believes everyone deserves a chance to share their voice, creativity, and experiences. Through the gallery, she has built an environment where artists and community members feel welcome and encouraged to explore their creativity.

One of the gallery’s main purposes is to help individuals express themselves through art. Ann knows that art can be a powerful form of communication, especially for those who struggle to share their thoughts and feelings in other ways. By offering a platform for artists and community events, Likha Gallery allows people to showcase their talents and connect with others who share similar interests. This fosters a sense of belonging and empowerment for those involved.

As a Filipino American, Ann is also dedicated to sharing and celebrating Filipino culture. Through exhibitions, cultural events, and community outreach, she uses the gallery to educate others about her heritage and promote appreciation for Filipino and Asian American contributions to society. She believes art can act as a bridge between cultures, helping people learn from one another and build stronger connections within diverse communities.

Additionally, Ann is passionate about addressing issues that affect Asian Americans, particularly bullying and discrimination. She wants Asian Americans to feel safe, respected, and valued wherever they are. Through her work at Likha Gallery, she shares a powerful message of inclusion, acceptance, and cultural pride. Her dedication to raising awareness about these important topics shows her commitment to creating positive change and ensuring future generations feel empowered to embrace their identities and share their stories.
