Mosco Street/Corky Lee Way, 105 Mosco St, New York, NY 10013, USA
About the Event
Corky Lee was an Asian American photojournalist and activist who died in 2021. In 2023, OCA was instrumental in co-naming Mosco Street in Manhattan’s Chinatown as Corky Lee Way. Frank Mosco, who the old Park Street was renamed for as Mosco Street in 1982 was also a grassroots civic leader on the lower east side. But because many people do not know of their history, the Corky Lee Way committee along with the four New York-area OCA chapters is installing a plaque on Mosco Street/Corky Lee Way this Sunday in a press ceremony. This permanent tribute affirms the shared history of the Chinese American and Italian American communities and inspires future generations to carry forward their spirit of inclusion, advocacy, and unity.
The Corky Lee Way Committee will make brief remarks followed by acknowledgements of the Mosco and Lee Families, elected officials, and community leaders. The plaque unveiling will be followed by a street sign acknowledgement and opportunity for photos.
