孝順. Those characters define me. This respect for my elders has given me a deep foundation in my heritage, and in turn, the humility towards a life of active citizenship.

I am compassionate, honest and aware. I am a leader and changemaker. I have fought for Asian rights with Senator Stewart-Cousins and have worked alongside Legislator Imamura to bring Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) studies to school curriculums. Through these experiences, I realize that I have a great responsibility to amplify the Asian voice and to inspire future generations to do the same.

During Covid, I witnessed rising Asian hate. Upon returning to school, I founded the Asian American Club to create a safe environment for Asian students. Today, as president of the school, I represent my peers as the chosen voice of the student body and connect diverse groups of different ages towards a community of inclusivity.

Our generation must play a role in making the Asian story heard. I aim to be a pioneer and role model for young Asian Americans to learn about their heritage. In giving the children of tomorrow identity, we enable them a powerful voice for change.
