Kaya Sasaki
My name is Kaya Sasaki, a senior at Scarsdale High School. Growing up as a Japanese-American in New York has driven me to advocate for a more inclusive and culturally aware world. Through my involvement with the OCA-WHV, I work to publicize events, maintain the website, and manage operations for events such as the annual OCA-WHV Gala, fueling my interest in being involved with cultivating impactful, organized initiatives for change.
Looking ahead, I plan to pursue studies in business, management, media, and marketing, focusing on how strategic planning and effective coordination can drive positive outcomes in the world. I am particularly inspired by the potential of management to bring diverse teams together toward common goals and marketing to foster belonging and amplify underrepresented voices. Whether it’s as president of my school’s National Art Honors Society and Asian Conscious Empowerment Club or in my intern and volunteer roles with OCA-WHV, Make Us Visible, AAARI, and CACF , I’ve understood the value of management skills and uniting individuals together through teamwork. I aim to continue building these skills, using my background and experiences to lead initiatives that foster inclusivity, community, and cultural understanding in the diverse world of today.
