Kaya Ito
My name is Kaya Ito, a high school student in the 2025 class at Harrison High School in New York. I was born in Kumamoto, Japan, and have lived in various countries, including France, Korea, and China, before moving to the U.S. at the age of 14. This uniquely diverse upbringing has fostered my passion for cultural exchange and community involvement.
I am a goalkeeper for my varsity soccer team and actively volunteer as a coach for younger players, helping them develop their skills and love for the game. My interest in sports extends to injury prevention and care, leading me to conduct research on the relationship between injuries and playing surfaces for my Personal Project.
As a leader in my school and community, I am committed to supporting Japanese athletes and promoting their visibility in global sports. I am excited to connect with others who share my passion for Asian-American issues and contribute to meaningful discussions and initiatives.
