Jake Fellner
My name is Jake Fellner and I am a Senior at Pelham Memorial High School. I am someone who is dedicated and curious with a passion for both creativity and problem-solving. My grandmother was born in Nicaragua and her father was born in China, and my mother was born in Ecuador; these diverse cultures in my household have shaped my appreciation for diverse cultures, especially Asian. My father is a New York City firefighter whose bravery motivates my work as a volunteer at Mamaroneck EMS.
My academic interests include science and medicine, fueled by my research on novel antibodies and cardiovascular disease and my shadowing experience with a cardiac electrophysiologist at Weill Cornell. I plan to pursue a career in healthcare and go to medical school.
Outside of academics, I express my creativity as the drummer and CFO of The Mellow Fellows, the most prominent jazz quartet in Westchester County. We play 1-2 gigs a week at restaurants, bars, festivals, and cocktail hours. In both music and my interest in medicine and research, I drive their functionality, whether it be keeping the beat of my music with my band or restoring the beat of a heart which has stopped beating.
