Sophie Xie

Sophie is currently a senior at Edgemont Jr/Sr High School in NY. She has worked to raise awareness of the AAPI community through a series of community activities and volunteering in YOCA-WHV, including the OCA Summer Reading Program, AAPI Youth Podcast, Mental Health Seminars, and annual Meet the Candidates Forums. Leading as a counselor in the Reading Program, she built up the syllabus and interacted with kids, promoting diversity and inclusivity for the AAPI community. As the Meet the Candidates Forum Coordinator, Sophie has facilitated a platform where citizens could communicate with local politicians running for office. Sophie joined YOCA’s leadership team to further advocate for equality for AAPI and continue contributing to the community. In her free time, Sophie enjoys reading, listening to music, and creating handicrafts.
