Rose Tan Kaung |
President |
Rose
has taught mathematics for over thirty years and held the Joseph and Sophia Abeles
Distinguished Chair for Mathematics at Westchester Community College. She holds a Ph. D. from Syracuse
University, a master’s degree from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree
in Chemical Engineering from the University of San Carlos. Rose has published and presented papers
and conducted workshops for teachers locally, nationally, and
internationally. She has received over
forty awards such as the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence, New
York State Mathematics Assoc. of Two Year Colleges’ Outstanding Contributions
to Mathematics Education Award, OCA-WHV Dynamic Achiever Award, Philippines
Chinese American Association Outstanding Award in Education, and the Pi
Lambda Theta International Honor and Professional
Association in Education Outstanding Education Award. She holds the title of
Professor Emeritus at Westchester Community College. Rose
is a member of several professional organizations and has served on a number
of boards such as the Syracuse University School of Education Advisory
Board. She serves as the Westchester
Coordinator for the Philippine Library Materials Project Foundation’s annual
collection of books and library equipment for twenty five years. As a lifetime member of the OCA Westchester and Hudson Valley Chapter, Rose has
actively been involved and assisted in the organization’s many events. She chairs the Scholar Selection Committee
for the OCA Asian Student Scholarship Endowed Fund at WCC and mentors the
scholars. She is married to Bill and resides in White Plains. |

Xiaochun Luo |

Dr. Xiaochun Luo is currently Group
Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer leading worldwide Research and
Development of Avon Products, Inc., a direct selling beauty company with $11
Billion revenue and a business presence in 120+ countries. Prior to this role, she was Vice President
of New Technology & New Product Innovation responsible for directing
technology programs and major product innovations for the company for all key
beauty product categories. Before
joining Avon, Xiaochun worked close to ten years
for Procter & Gamble Company in both international and US business
units. Xiaochun
was a co-founder and the first president of the Asian American Cosmetic
Professional Association. She has
received many awards, among them was the National
Asian American Corporate Achievement Award in 2004. Xiaochun received
her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Purdue University. She is married with
two sons whom she enjoys spending time with. |

Joan Jia |

Joan
has over 10 years professional experience in financial industry, with
responsibilities including program management and product development. She is
now serving as a Vice President of Investment Banking Technology for JPMorgan
Chase, with global responsibilities across NY, London, Tokyo and Singapore.
She is a member of the Asians & Pacific Islanders Reaching for
Excellence, a JPMorgan internal group to promote diversity and culture. Besides JPMorgan, Joan is a founder and director of
Sino-American Language Center, a Westchester, NY based language learning center
which specializes in promoting Chinese culture and teaching Chinese as a
second language to the local community. Joan received her MS degree from the
Columbia University, NY and her BS from The University of Akron, Ohio. She
was born in Sichuan China and came to US to continue her undergraduate
education in 1992. She has been a Westchester resident for 10 years and is
married with two children. |

Xin Zheng |

Xin Zhang is Assistant Professor and
Director of Bioinformatics Shared Resource of Albert Einstein College of
Medicine, Albert Einstein Cancer Center. He majored
in Physics in Fudan University, Shanghai, China. He
went to the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA/ISAS) in
Trieste, Italy for graduate study, received his Ph.D. in Biophysics in
1991. Xin volunteered for many community services. He served as PTA chair
of Huaxia Chinese School, New York for two years
and served as a member of the Board of Directors for three years. He also served as a member of Board of
Directors for the Westchester Chinese Association (WCA) for two years. He is
also a member of the maintenance committee and Board of Managers of Apple
Hill Condominium, Chappaqua, NY, where he is a resident for 9 years. He is married to Ling and they have two
sons. |

Lawrence Ng |

Lawrence
is a Principal at Platinum Grove Asset management. He joined LTCM as a senior
Strategist in 1993 and was in charge of US Fixed Income Development and later
co-headed the Global Application Development Committee. Prior to his leaving
in 1999, he led the Risk Control Development Effort at LTCM. He was employed at Salomon Brothers Mortgage Research from 1986 to 1987 as an Assistant Vice President in the Mortgage Finance Group, at Nomura Securities International from 1987 to 1988, and as a Principal at Blackrock Financial Management as head of the portfolio analysis group from 1988 to 1993. From 1983 to 1986, Lawrence was on the technical staff at GTE Government Systems, Communications Systems Division. He received a B.S. and M.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from MIT and MBA in Finance from Boston University. He and his wife Karen have four sons and they reside in Scarsdale, NY. |

Pablo
Cue was the Chapter president from 2002 to 2004. Pablo taught high school math before
retirement. He had several years of industrial experience as a
financial advisor with Morgan Stanley, as a Corporate Quality Manager with
Nestle China in Hong Kong and Beijing, China, and as a Senior Quality Auditor
and Senior Quality Engineer with Lederle Labs,
Revlon Health Care Group, and Ross Labs.
His interest has always been in math and statistics. In his work with OCA Westchester & Hudson Valley
Chapter, Pablo’s primary interest had been in seeing a strong youth
movement. With help from Meow Yee and
Lawrence Ng, he revitalized the YOCAA in 2002. In 2003, he established
the Youth Leadership Recognition Program with the support of Franklin Chu. In 2002, he expanded the Dynamic Achiever
Award Program to include the recognition of outstanding Asian American
community leaders. During his term as
president, the chapter earned the recognition for being "OCA Chapter of
the Year" in 2003, and second place in 2002. He was also the publisher and editor of OCA
Westchester newsletter for many years. |

Peggy Chen |

Peggy currently serves as Vice President of Public Relations at the OCA-WHV and co-chaired the 2008 and 2010 Asian Heritage Festival. She is a founding member of Chinese Alliance Church of Westchester (CACW) and is serving as a Board member for Mission and Evangelism. In 2009, she led the Audit team and completed the 2008 financial audit for CACW. She is a coordinator for the Westchester Livable Communities for seniors and a Finance Committee Member of the Scarsdale Woman’s Club. |

Lai has a Master Degree in Social Work (MSW) from
the University of California at Berkeley.
She has dedicated many years of service to the Asian Americans
community in the fields of mental health and substance abuse. She is the Director of the Hamilton Madison
House Asian American Recovery services in Chinatown, NYC. May is one of the advocates and pioneers in Asian American substance abuse services. She is a member of many New York City and national Committees. Among the many awards she has received are the New York State Governor’s Award for outstanding Asian American and the 2002 OCA General Motors Unsung Hero Award. May Lai loves music and has studied the Chinese instrument Zheng for about ten years. |

Helen Tang |

Helen has practiced
as a Registered Nurse for over 40 years. She was educated in Malaysia,
Singapore (RN), Scotland (SCM), and St Joseph College in New York. Helen has been active in community services for many years. Presently, she volunteers at the American Red Cross, Bronx Botanical Garden and the Westchester Medical Reserve Corp. She is a certified CLNC and wellness coordinator. Helen is also a member of SANE [Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner]. Her son Andrew is a Lt. Col. in the Air Force and she has two beautiful granddaughters. |

Daniel Lewis |

Daniel Lewis has been the Families with Children from China Westchester region (FCC Westchester) liaison to OCA WHV since 2007, when the two organizations began collaborating. He is also a member of the FCC Westchester Advisory Board. He and his wife are the parents of two children adopted from China. His interests are in bringing the adoptive Chinese American community closer together with the traditional Chinese American community so that both may mutually benefit. |

Bill is a lifetime
member of the OCA Westchester & Hudson Valley Chapter. He is currently the Vice President for
Programs and has been on the Board of Directors for over a decade. Bill served as the President of the chapter
for three years, from 1999 to 2001. It
was during his presidency that the OCA-WHV started its collaboration with the
Westchester Parks Department to hold the annual Asian Heritage Festival at
the Kensico Dam Plaza. This grand event is held during the month
of May and attracts four to six thousand residents from our diverse
communities every year. Bill also coordinates the annual Meet the Candidates
Forum, where all candidates running for elected positions are invited to
participate. The forum aims to promote
the participation of Asian Americans in the democratic process and to
encourage political candidates to listen to the needs and concerns of their
constituents. Bill is the past OCA National Treasurer for three terms and served on the Executive Council from 2002 to 2008. Bill also serves on the Executive Committees of both the Hudson Valley Community Coalition (HVCC), a coalition of the Not-for-Profit Advocacy groups in the lower Hudson Valley, and We Are Westchester, a coalition of the Not-for-Profit Advocacy groups in Westchester County. He studied accounting at Pace University, New York City, AAS, and received his B.S. in Finance from Syracuse University, and his MBA degree from Iona College. |

Li Lin |

Li Lin has over 10 years experience in Treasury and Risk management. She is currently Director of Exposure
Management and Hedging Advisory for GE Capital, managing the risk for over
$500 billion assets. Besides her
demanding full-time job, she is actively involved in various volunteer
groups. Li is a local Council Leader for
GE Corporate Volunteer Advisory Council; a Director for GE Corporate
Treasury's "Kids to College" program; and she is on the Volunteer
Committee for Asian Pacific American Forum (APAF), one of GE's diversity
groups. She also helps plan for many
cultural events for General Huaxia Chinese School
and served 2 years as Vice Principal and PTA's Vice Chairperson at the New
York Huaxia Chinese School. She is married with two lovely kids. |

Grace Pan |

Grace Pan has over
10 years of experience in Banking and the Mortgage industries, specializing
in pricing and strategic planning. She
was VP of Citi Home Equity for Citibank. She is a PTA member for her
children’s school and is actively involved in the school’s fund-raising
events and many other activities. Grace also serves as the PTA's Vice Chairperson of the New York Huaxia Chinese School and helps organize many events for the school. She is currently teaching Olympic Math at HXNY Chinese School. She has been a volunteer for the Asian American Heritage Festival for the past two years, in charge of the program and the performances as a stage manager. |

Meow Yee |

Meow currently holds the position of Project Executive, Business Development, in IBM’s Systems & Technology Group. She has responsibility for growing IBM’s mainframe business in the emerging countries, Brazil, Russia, India and China. In her prior position, she has responsibility for developing and executing the Global Engineering unit’s inorganic growth strategy, which included assessing candidate companies for acquisitions and alliances, developing and managing partner relationships. She had lead responsibility for the Asia Pacific region, with a focus on China. Meow was the Project Executive for Asian Initiatives, in Corporate Communications. She led and managed a ground breaking project to drive new levels of collaboration across multiple global companies to share best practices around business in the Asian marketplace and leveraging Asian talent, which included a benchmarking study. Meow has been recognized within IBM with numerous excellence awards for delivering millions of dollars of savings and benefits to the corporation.
Meow received numerous awards including the National Women of Color Technology All Star award in recognition of her many technical achievements, the Salute to Women and Racial Justice Technology Award from the YWCA White Plains and Central Westchester. Recently, and the President’s Volunteer Service Award. She is actively involved in programs to encourage girls' interest in science and engineering. She is the President and co-founder of the Asian Women Leadership Network, a nationwide network, with members from multiple corporations. Meow graduated from Imperial College, University of London, England with an MS degree in Computer Science, and a BS degree majoring in math (Second Upper Honors) and a Diploma of Education from the University Malaya, Malaysia. She speaks English, Malay and the Chinese dialects of Mandarin, Cantonese and Hakka, and some German. She is married with a daughter and a son. |

Jenny Kho |

Jenny
Kho plays a very active part in her community. She is the Past President of the
Philippines Chinese Association of America (Northeast) and the Philippines
Chiang Kai Shek Alumni Association of America
(Northeast). Jenny has been a
recipient of the national Women’s Insurance Financial Services Leaders Recognition
Platinum Awards. She is committed to
helping her clients achieve their financial goals for themselves, their
families and their business by providing effective strategies for assets
accumulation, preservation and transfer.
Jenny
is a member of the New York Life’s Chairman’s Council, which is the highest
level of achievement for a New York Life representative. In addition, she has further demonstrated
her dedication to serving the needs of her community by attaining Life
Membership status in the industry’s prestigious Million Dollar Round Table. |

Vincent Young |

Vincent Young has served as a Past president of OCA-WHV Chapter and currently serves as Vice President of Membership. He received his BS in Electric Engineering from Polytechnic University and an MBA from NYU. Vincent was a Director of Public Policy and External Affair at Verizon before his retirement. He and his wife, Grace reside in White Plains. They have 3 daughters. |

David Chen |

Dr. David Chen retired from New York Presbyterian
Hospital, Westchester Division in 2010. He received his Ed.D.
degree in Gerontology from Teachers College,
Columbia University in 1981. He has worked in both inpatient and outpatient
clinic for medical and psychiatric patients at various hospitals. David was an assistant professor of Psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine from 1991 to 2009. He is currently a Senior Council member at the Westchester County Department of Senior Program & Services. |

Jeannette Wang |

Jeannette Wang has
been with OCA since 1997 and has been a board member since 1998. She was a PTA President for her children’s school,
the vice president of Irvington Chamber of Commerce and helped facilitate
diversification and membership of the Junior League of Westchester. She has been a board member of the
Interracial Women’s Leadership Roundtable.
Jeannette has a BS
in Chemical Engineering. She owned a
Real Estate business for many years and now is an Associate Broker and
Executive Director to Prudential Rand Realty.
She also served as Treasurer for the Board of Realtors in
Westchester. Jeannette’s communication
skills is one of her strongest assets, marked by her
fluency in French, English and three Chinese dialects (Mandarin, Cantonese
and Shanghainese). |

Wanda Eng |

Wanda
is the Senior Director of Compliance at Actavis,
Inc., a global generic pharmaceutical manufacturer with US headquarters
located in New Jersey. Wanda travels
the world as the in-house compliance consultant making sure that the
manufacturing plants are in compliance with global regulations. Prior to joining Actavis,
she worked at Alpharma, Inc. in the same
capacity. For
over twenty years, Wanda was employed by the US Food & Drug
Administration starting out as an Investigator and then into roles of
increasing responsibility as Compliance Officer, Supervisor and finally as
the Director of Investigations for New York State. It was the first time in FDA history that
an Asian woman was promoted to be the “Chief Inspector” of a District
office. Wanda loves to travel and play
poker. She lives in Scarsdale with her husband. She has 2 grown children. |
